Kosmos is built by Sakura, a Tanzanian technology company that runs hosting, domains, messaging and payment records for businesses across the country. Kosmos brings that experience to the people who sell stays and journeys.

Who we are, and the numbers

What is Kosmos?

Kosmos is a tourism technology service built for lodges, camps, hotels, travel agencies and the organisations that bring visitors to Tanzania. Today we build and look after websites, search visibility, listings and hosting. Booking, payments and channel tools are being built and will arrive in stages.

What is the best solution for my business?

If you run a property or a tour company, start with Operators: a website, a plan for being found, and care. If you represent many businesses, look at Destinations. If you manage parks, councils or national programmes, look at Enterprise. Not sure? Send us your website address and we will tell you plainly.

How is Kosmos different from other booking systems?

We are built in Tanzania. Billing is in shillings, payment records follow how guests here pay, by mobile money and bank, and support comes in English and Swahili from people who answer. And you deal with a named person, not a ticket queue.

How long does it take to get started?

For a website review it is a few days. For a new website or a move, we agree a plan with dates before we start and stick to it. The platform products will each publish their own onboarding steps when they open.

Do the products work with systems I already use?

We plan to connect with the tools lodges and operators already use: online travel sites, payment providers, accounting exports and messaging. Our partners page lists what is planned and what is live, and we say clearly which is which.

What does it cost?

Prices are agreed in shillings before we start and billed clearly. Websites and care are quoted per property or agency. Platform products will publish their prices when they open. A website review costs nothing.

Is my data secure?

Your guest and booking data belongs to you. We host it with care, back it up, and limit who can see it. When products open, each one publishes how it handles data.

What kind of support do you provide?

A named person looks after your account and answers on WhatsApp and email, in English and Swahili. If something breaks, we tell you what happened, what we did and what we are changing.

How many operators and destinations use Kosmos?

We will publish real numbers when we have them. We would rather show you a small true number than a large invented one.

Can Kosmos help me reduce commission paid to online travel sites?

Yes, in two ways. A website with a booking path of its own gets you more direct bookings, and Kosmos Connect will show what each channel costs you, so you can decide where to put your effort.
